Dub Trio
“4/5 stars – Operation: Wow Factor…filthy stoner-metal and psychedelic
breakdowns – eerie blots of noise litter the soundscape and implore you
to pay attention. Whether they’re grooving in dub or melting eardrums
with sinister riffage..giving birth to a stirring new noise,”
Alternative Press
“Dub Trio are a formidable dub unit…in fact, they’re almost too good,” Pitchfork
“Though Dub Trio drenches its sound in spacious grimy reverb and
frequently slides into dub-y grooves, it also fuses things together
with heaps of harsh metal riffs that can suddenly turn a song from
mellow to thrilling,” The Onion

Thank You
"What if late-’70s This Heat recorded for Load Records circa now? It might sound like Thank You’s Terrible Two. This Baltimore trio creates instrumentals that possess that maverick U.K. post-punk group’s cutthroat tenacity and flagrant tonal exploration. They also mirror This Heat’s penchant for screw-tightening riffing that induces an exquisite tension. A savvy savagery prevails throughout most of the disc’s 35 minutes, with opener “Empty Legs” tossing you into the maelstrom from the start with brisk, thunderous drums, cheetah snarls, and chimp shrieks."- XLR8R

“Austin-based eight-peice who sound like Big Star jamming with Neil young (New Life) and The Jayhawks (Without You), The Mamas and the Papas, Byrds, even Ray Davies in a swamp. Country rock ballads and pop perfection, with imperfections in the home-made, one take sound to make it all the more engaging”-

Basia Bulat
YOU TUBE
"It's hard to get a handle on Basia Bulat's beguiling debut single "In the Night," in part because her words and intentions can be difficult to discern and in part because the song's arrangement springs from about 50 years' worth of pop music at once. What's easier to suss out is that this is one of 2008's great singles — a criminally under-appreciated gem that deserves acknowledgement alongside the best of Amy Winehouse, not to mention far ahead of the track Leona Lewis has been flogging at the top of the pop charts for the past mont." - NPR.org

The Lymbyc Systym
"As the Lymbyc Systym, brothers Jared and Michael Bell tastefully blend keyboards, drums, and electronics into a hazy post-rock mishmash, replete with super-syncopated bloops and bleeps. Lymbyc Systym makes plain the enormous debt they owe to instrumental forerunners like Tortoise and Four Tet, but the moody grooves give off a vibe that brings to mind Broken Social Scene's debut, Feel Good Lost."
Chicago Reader
This Will Destroy You
“Much like Explosions in the Sky and Mono, This Will Destroy You use their instruments expertly to create a brooding anxiety that threatens to erupt at any moment. They often build in traditional instro-post-rock fashion, starting calm before growing to a dense wall of guitars and cymbals...”

RTX
Jennifer Herrema formed the trio RTX in 2004 after her musical and matrimonial split from Royal Trux partner-in-grime Neil Michael Hagerty. Western Xterminator ventures further from the '90s opiate-blues legacy of Trux, sounding more exploratory than RTX's debut, Transmaniacon, even as it embraces rawk conventions like four-to-the-floor cowbell ("Dude Love"), double-kick thrash ("Knightmare & Mane"), and hair-metal guitar. Herrema and Co. throw the horns without a whiff of irony, and if the Ratt-like "Balls to Pass" is a nod to the album's title, they're geniuses" -Spin
DEAD CHILD
Upon first glance at its gruesome exterior, Dead Child appears to be a new creation. However, its jagged roots extend deep into the past, with a history that holds almost a century of collective experience. It all began when, as youngsters growing up in Louisville, KY during the 70s and 80s, the evil riffs of the heaviest bands were like voices beckoning them to a darker side. Thus began a long, downward journey into the abyss.

The New Year
Over the last seventeen years, in the 1990s with Bedhead and for the last decade with The New Year, Matt and Bubba Kadane have done all they could to avoid feeling rushed in making a record. Records need time to be coherent, and coherence -- even thin thematic coherence -- is what makes records worth more than a mere collection of songs.
