"This is terminally catchy music played with punk's enthusiasm and velocity, and maybe it's the fact that there's only two dudes in this band that makes you feel like joining in to bash along."

Future Of The Left
(Ex-members of Mclusky)
YouTube
"Future of the Left gets a lot out of a little, a real economy of sound. To use a dorky design metaphor, the band makes great use of the musical equivalent of white space. Sometimes there will just be bass and drums, sometimes just drums while Falkous and bassist Kelson Mathias shout in unison. Those moments of emptiness make the sharp blasts of guitar and pummeling drums in songs like "Small Bones Small Bodies" and "Real Men Hunt in Packs" all the more intense. It's tempting to describe Future of the Left as angry, but that wouldn't be accurate."
- Washington Post
"The band still starts and stops on a dime, the vocals are still layered
and ambitious even when seething, the song titles still raise a
challenging bar for the music to live up to ("Yin/Post -Yin", "You Need
Satan More Than He Needs You"), and the low-end on the guitars still
sound like angry bears. Granted, this is how both Mclusky and FOTL
built the niche that drew in a loyal, fervent audience, but Travels is
the sound of band who still have a lot they want to prove." - Pitchfork 8.0

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
"Alex Ebert could easily double as some kind of indie-rock messiah.
Fronting his new band, the 11- or 12-member strong Edward Sharpe &
the Magnetic Zeros, Ebert appears onstage shirtless and barefoot,
strands of shoulder-length hair tied back in a faux crown as he
conducts his smiling, face-painted ensemble like a giddy choir director." - L.A. Times

NOMO
"Invisible Cities is the exact record NOMO needed to make at the point in their evolution. It consolidates all their gains and nicely sums up their output to this point, and as much as you can point to influences and basic kinship with other artists, the music NOMO are now making is very much their own thing."
